8.50 (very good) A beautiful story. Not one I would recommend for a young audience though. Although I enjoyed the anime, the manga felt a lot more complete.

7.75 (good) Black Lagoon isn't for everyone. It's violent, occasionally gorey, and often times dark. There's a lot of things like cursing in the series. However, beneath all of it's vulgarities, it has its own themes. I think one of its major themes is what life in the gutter does to people and the kind of effect it has on their lives. I personally find it entertaining. But that's just me.

8.00 (good) Whenever someone asks me about Cowboy Bebop, all I have to tell them is that it's a cultural phenomenon. It takes place in the future where humanity has extended its reach to all the planets in the solar system. Bounty hunting is the law of this new frontier. The story centralizes around four people onboard a ship called the Bebop. Each one has a life to sort out and each one deals with it in their own way. The plot doesn't feel very intricate, but the anime has a lot to be proud of. It has beautiful themes and a musical score that sets it apart from all others.

7.00 (above average) Lots of action, gore, and suspense. But the fanservice felt a tad too excessive and a bit unecessary.

8.25 (good) Most of the people who I've met say that this series is messed up. However, I found the plot to be very clever. It's a series that belongs in the mystery genre. It contains various scenarios and storylines that make you think. There is some gore here and there. But beyond that, I found it to be very entertaining.

7.75 (good) An adventure that takes place in feudal Japan, where demons and humans roam the lands. At times the series tends to drag on. However, Rumiko Takahashi eventually rewards the viewers.

7.50 (good) I enjoyed it. It was very funny. But it got a little random at times. I think it's because the animators just didn't have time to animate the entire story into 26 episodes.

8.00 (good) A very funny look at the way some people in Japan live their lives. It's the kind of series that makes you think and reflect a lot. But it's another one of those series that I would only recommend for mature audiences.

9.75 (excellent) A true classic. Full of symbolism and supernatural elements. It is a movie that no one should miss.

Rurouni Kenshin

9.25 (very good) A highly entertaining story about a wandering samurai that carries a tragic past. He now tries to better the world and defend people without having to resort to murder. A blend of action, comedy, drama, and historical tie-ins makes this series a fulfilling story that stands on its own.(Like many series, the manga certainly outweighs the anime. After the Tokyo arc and the Kyoto arc, they started throwing fillers. Unfortunately, they never really did get to animate the last arc.)

School Rumble

Seen: partially; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Jul 25, 2011

8.25 (good) School Rumble is one of those series that delivers comedy on a level of its own. Although the story gets very whacky, it establishes a high school drama that keeps you coming back for more.

Vandread

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Jul 21, 2011

7.25 (above average) Vandread is one of those series that you would use to fill in some free time. The selling point of the series probably comes from it's material and visual effects. There's ecchi here and there accompanied by non-stop comedy/action. All and all, it is just pure fun. As for the plot, it wasn't what I would call ingenius but the story does have a few twists. The characters do in fact change throughout the story and you can certainly tell. Though, most of the core aspects and lessons that the series has to offer probably won't feel like anything that hasn't been done before in other anime series. There are times when it feels shallow and times when it feels genuine. Still, to me, Vandread had its own way of entertaining its viewers.
